All right ladies keeping your self motivated to lose weight, can get more challenging then working out itself. And we completely understand that. Post pregnancy you just want to relax and cuddle with your baby and working out is probably the last thing on your mind. But once you are settled in your routine and made a full recovery, we have some tips and tricks to help you start. Gone are the days to find a gym buddy or read a fitness book. We have gathered new ways to stick to the workout routine. So it’s the time to swap your pajamas with your track pants and get your body back!
Buy a weighing machine
That’s the stepping-stone of your weight loss journey. Buy a weighing machine and keep a track of your weight weekly. Do not get disappointed if you don’t see the results soon enough. It takes time, discipline and a lot of hard work. But every time you see the kilos reducing on that machine, it will certainly motivate you to keep working towards your goals
Click a selfie
Take a photo of yourself on the very first day of workout and do it every month. Keep it in a separate folder on your phone and every time you feel like giving up look at the transition you have gone through in the last few months. I have done it and it totally works.
Follow fitness instructors
We live in the visual world of social media. Everything is served for you on a platter. Following a fitness instructor on Instagram or Facebook will constantly remind you to follow your fitness journey. You will be surprised how useful they are, most of them have workout calendars and schedules with links to You tube workout videos. It’s a great way to get started and keep going.
Join a transformational group
Joining this kind of group on social media is another great way of reminding ourselves to give it our best. Yes, I am talking about the ones with before and after pictures. Looking at women just like us who have lost all the pregnancy weight is a perfect boost to your losing confidence. Many transformations deserve more then an applaud for their hard work and high spirits.
Download an app
Another way to keep going is by downloading a fitness app. There are many to choose from, they focus on strength training, yoga, cardio and Pilates. If you find your self completely lost and don’t know where to start from, follow this tip and get started.
Plan your diet
There was a time, I was stuck to a number and despite of working hard and keeping an eye on what goes in my body I did not see any results. So, I decided to hire a food manager aka dietician. Consulting a dietician is a great idea, not only you will get the right guidance about nutrition; you will also be motivated to keep eating healthy. The changes she brought in my meals really helped me achieve my pre pregnancy weight.
Playing with you kids
What is better then playing with kids and burning those calories? It’s a great combination of having fun and working out. The best part is you don’t even need music for this kind of workout, all the giggling and laughing will keep you motivated to keep moving those muscles.
Pre pregnancy jeans reminder
We all have that prefect dress or those amazing pair of jeans in our closet, which unfortunately don’t fit any more. Don’t stash it in the corner and don’t even think about giving them up. If you give up your pre pregnancy clothes you have already lost the battle. Use them to remind yourself every single day to work towards your goals. Trust me the day you fit into those jeans you will be on top of the world.
Help from family and friends
This plays a very important part in your fitness journey. You must take all the help you can for family and friends. Arrange for someone to watch the baby while you take out an hour for yourself. Talk to them and involve them in this process. Take guidance from the women in your family who have been through pregnancy. Sometimes just talking to people around you can really make you optimistic in achieving your goals.
At last remind your self it’s not about getting the perfect figure; it’s about being your self and feeling good about who you are. It’s not about being skinny; it’s about being healthy and have the stamina and strength to run around your toddler in future. It’s not about vanity; it’s about living a healthy lifestyle so your kids can learn from you and do the same.
It’s going to be a tough one, but never give in!
